Plastindia Foundation moves ahead with collaboration with Univ of Wisconsin and Univ of Massachusetts

Plastindia Foundation is all set to join hands with two foreign universities; University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA & University of Massachusetts, Lowell, USA.
Under its Empowerment Committee, the Foundation has decided to set up an integrated campus under the name of Plastindia International University affiliated to Gujarat Government to cater to the educational needs of the Plastic Industry. The Gujarat government has agreed to allow the centre to have a deemed university status.The objective of Plastindia International University is to provide Engineering and Management education upto Postgraduate level coupled with Industrial Research, Project Management and Entrepreneurship. It will ultimately incorporate doctorate level programs.
Plastindia Foundation is moving ahead with one more successful step by collaborating with University of Wisconsin, Madison, and University of Massachusetts, Lowell both from USA; the objectives of this collaboration are :-
• To have International Curricula
• To share teaching Methodology
• Research and Development
• Student Transfer
Plastindia Foundation will be signing Memorandum of Understanding with these universities on 3rd February 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
In the MoU signing Ceremony, President � Plastindia Foundation along with Plastindia Foundation�s Empowerment Committee will be representing Plastindia Foundation. Eminent faculties representing both the universities will attend the ceremony.
As Indian plastic processing capacity rises from 8 mln tons to to 20 mln tons by 2020, additional trained manpower requirements of the industry will rise by 7000-8000 pa.
University of Massachusetts, Lowell is one of the finest in polymer technology and processing, with 450 alumni in India. University of Wisconsin is a class one university with respect to material science and research . Both have affirmed to assist in with use of set faculty and set curriculamr. The will hacve capacity to train 1200 students a year
All founder members of Plastindia Foundation were of the opinion that "high-end qualified and skilled manpower requirements of the Indian Plastics Industry need to be addressed for the Indian Plastics Industry needs to sustain its growth". Plastindia Foundation Knowledge Centre is an initiative arising from these opinions.
• Plastindia Foundation will be contributing a seed capital for this project and seek participation from the Plastics Industry, both Indian & overseas, to complete the project, envisaged at Rs. 100 Crores.
• The need for trained technical manpower in the following areas highlighted are:
  - Business Head: Marketing & Technical services
  - Managerial talent
  - Testing & quality control
  - R & D
• Training facility at Plastindia Foundation Knowledge Centre will be specially designed and dedicated to the Plastics & Polymer Industry with courses consisting of:
  - Polymer Technology
  - Polymer Processing Technology
  - Moulds & Design Production Technology
• Besides the above courses in Management & Entrepreneurial Development Courses both full time course and part time course will also be a part of the offerings.
• 35 acres of Land for the project has already been acquired for the project at Dungara, Vapi-Gujarat. The project is aimed to be completed in the next 2 years and is estimated to have a capacity to train 1200 students a year
