Polytetrafluorethylene, PTFE is a high crystalline thermoplastic with excellent sliding properties. PTFE offers an anti-adhesive surface and good insulating properties. PTFE has an almost universal chemical resistance and can be used over a large temperature spectrum. These advantages are contrasted by the disadvantages of low mechanical strength and high specific weight compared to other plastics. Typical parts made of PTFE are O-rings, test jacks, thread guides, or shaft seals.
