Feasibility studies underway for ethylene cracker, VCM plant by Mexichem

Mexico’s Mexichem’s feasibility studies for a petrochemical plant in Peru is expected to be complete within two years. The US$2 bln project will comprise an ethylene cracker and a vinyl chloride monomer [VCM] plant. The project will entail a chlorine soda plant, and will depend on a secured natural gas agreement and the necessary supply of ethane. Mexican companies like Idesa and Alfa as well as Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem are being considered as partners for the project.
