New high renewable content TPEs unveiled for eco-conscious products

GLS Thermoplastic Elastomers, a business of PolyOne, recently introduced VERSAFLEX™ BIO TPEs for injection molding which it says are formulated with upto 70% renewable resources. These translucent grades, unveiled at NPE 2009, are available in a range of Shore A hardnesses. According to the company, these high renewable content TPEs provides designers and manufacturers eco-friendly options. The VERSAFLEX BIO family of TPEs compares favorably to typical styrenic-based TPEs and is available with bio-content levels ranging from 63 to 70% and hardness levels ranging from 40 to 70 Shore A. VERSAFLEX BIO compounds provide value-creating product and service solutions by helping customers satisfy environmental goals, including regulatory standards governed by REACH, RoHS, ELV, and WEEE, as well as future directives.
