Germany based Evonik has developed Vestamid HT plus - a polyphthalamide (PPA) semi-crystalline polymer to replace metals in pump and filter-system housings for fuel systems. Its is stable at high temperatures, has excellent mechanical properties, good dimensional stability, high chemical resistance and is corrosion resistant. It is economically converted on standard injection moulding machines, and the finished parts require no further downstream processing. Vestamid HT plus is said to offer an excellent price/performance ratio, providing cost savings of up to 50%.
