Aker Kvaerner has been awarded a contract to provide the basic engineering design and technical advisory services for JiaLong's new Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) plant by with JiaLong Petrochemical Fiber Company Limited. The PTA plant is to be built at its existing petrochemical complex in ShiShi, Fujian Province, People's Republic of China. The new plant will produce 600,000 tpa of PTA. The project commences immediately, and start-up of the new plant is scheduled for late 2008. The project will utilise advanced and proven PTA technology from INVISTA (formerly DuPont Textiles & Interiors).
JiaLong has developed one of the largest chemical fibre production bases in North China, meeting local demand in Fujian province as well as across the nation.
Aker Kvaerner has worked on more than 20 PTA facilities, representing around 20% of the world's PTA production capacity.
