China National Chemical to invest US$1 bln in Xinjiang

The China National Chemical Group Corp is to build a chloralkali and PVC production base, a meridian tyre production base and a soda ash production base in Xinjiang in co-operation with Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in Northwest China. With an annual production capacity of 600,000 tons of PVC, th eproject will also make 500,000 tons of caustic soda, one million sets of meridian tyres and 600,000 tons of soda ash. These three production bases are to involve an investment of about 9 billion yuan (US$1.08 billion) and are to generate a sales volume of about 8 billion yuan. China Chemical Group was formed in May 2004, with approval from China's State Council.
