The European Commission has cleared a subsidy of up to EUR45 million that the German regional government of Bavaria plans to grant to a consortium of German petrochemical companies for the construction of an ethylene pipeline. The project is an important step towards the creation of a pan-European ethylene pipeline network, and amounting to only 29.9% of the total eligible investment cost, it will not unduly distort competition.
