The Chinese government has approved Mitsubishi Chemical Corp's plan to build a 600,000 mta purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant on Daxie Island, Ningbo in China. The joint-venture (JV)- Ningbo Mitsubishi Chemical Corp, will be established in April 2005, with 90% of the ownership by a Japanese consortium called Ningbo PTA Investment Co. Construction work on the plant would start in April this year, with the plant slated to be on stream by September 2006.
