The Azerbaijan State Committee on Standardisation, Metrology and Patents plans to commission a modern petrochemical laboratory by the end of the year, the State Committee told Trend on Tuesday. The new lab will be located in the city of Sumgait (35 km from Baku). It will be equipped with the latest equipment, technology and reagents. Highly skilled professionals who will constantly improve their knowledge in training and courses will work in the lab. It will be possible to conduct the study of dark and light oil products, as well as various types of analyses including spectral, in the laboratory. Such a laboratory is required to improve the quality of petrochemical products produced in the republic and to increase their competitiveness in international markets, the head of the State Committee Ramiz Hasanov said.
Azerbaijan has two oil refineries and one gas processing plant, as well as enterprises producing chemical products, owned by Azerkimya.
