BASF plans to locate its European business unit for additives, global units for technology management, and the restructured pigment business at the former headquarters of Ciba Holding in Basel. A new business centre is being established for Switzerland in Basel, serving as platform for sales, finance and personnel functions; along with BASF research centre focusing on plastics, coatings and paper. This decision has been reached post-acquisition as BASF and Ciba started analysing the best combination of the businesses. BASF plans to merge Ciba Holding with BASF Specialty Chemicals Holding.
