BASF has awarded a contract to Linde AG for plant upgradation to increase annual capacity of its plant in Antwerp by 30% to 1,080,000 tons of ethylene and 650,000 tons of propylene. The extension work includes the delivery of a new cracking furnace featuring state-of-the-art, propriety Linde technology by autumn 2007.
An increasing demand for petrochemicals has prompted this expansion, which upon completion will make the BASF plant in Antwerp one of the biggest liquid crackers in the world.
