German chemical group BASF plans to invest US$ one billion in the Asia-Pacific region over the next three years. Almost 50% of this investment outlay will find its way into China.
BASF has already invested more than US$ 2 bln in China in recent years, mainly in the first-phase development of a 50-50 joint venture petrochemical complex with Sinopec. BASF and Sinopec have decided t o invest another US$250 mln in the second-phase development of the plant, to raise the annual ethylene capacity to 750,000 tons.
