Foster Wheeler awarded EPC contract for Lucite's MMA plant in Singapore

Foster Wheeler Ltd.'s subsidiaries have been awarded a reimbursable engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Lucite International Singapore Pte. Ltd. (LISPL) for a new methyl methacrylate (MMA) manufacturing facility at on Jurong Island, Singapore. The two subsidiaries are UK based Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, and its Singapore subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd., both of which are part of its Global Engineering and Construction group Foster Wheeler has completed the basic engineering design for this 120,000 tpa plant, scheduled for commissioning in 2008. This is the first in a series of Alpha-based facilities planned by Lucite International. The technology offers significant economic and environmental benefits over conventional MMA manufacturing routes, and is set to revolutionize production cost-base for MMA, the basic building block of the acrylics industry.
