BASF reviewing commencement schedule of plant in South West China

06-May-09
Restricted demand is compelling Germany’s BASF to review the timing of start up of a new plant in southwestern China. BASF had plans to construct a 400,000 tpa MDI plant in Chongqoing, with startup slated for 2010, at an estimated investment of US$4.5 bln. Global demand for MDI is expected to shrink in 2009, with declining automotive and construction sectors. Start up date will be scheduled after assessment of the current MDI market situation.
