Superabsorbent polymer materials, cross-linked acrylates, find application in disposable nappies and are also used in packaging, cable wrapping environmental containment and fire fighting.
The German group, BASF is reorganising its superabsorber polymer manufacturing platform in the US, closing two old plants in Mississippi and Virginia and building a new state of the art facility in Freeport, Texas. This new plant will be based on BASF's improved quality. BASF first adopted this improved quality, availability and competitiveness at a new plant in Antwerp two years ago using its own technology.
