Berry Plastics to expand thermoform operations in Indiana; start up set for Q1 2009

Berry Plastics Corporation, a leading US-based plastic packaging provider, has decided to expand its thermoforming operations at Evansville, Indiana, the company's corporate headquarters. The company will invest about US$150 mln in building and equipment over seven years and will create more than 360 new production related jobs. The new thermoforming operations are set to start by Q1 2010. Adam Unfried, President of the Rigid Open Top Division said, "The added manufacturing capacity accelerates our ability to deliver on the opportunities in our new business pipeline and strategic plan. Plastic drink cups and related products continue to be preferred in the market due to the performance and value of the packaging." Berry Plastics is a major producer of a wide range of products, including open top and closed top packaging, polyethylene-based plastic films, industrial tapes, medical specialties, packaging, heat-shrinkable coatings and specialty laminates.
