The West Bengal government-backed Mr Swapan Bhowmick was re-appointed as the managing director (MD) of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) at a crucial board meeting. This appointment of Mr Bhowmick for another three year term from 1 April, has been approved, despite apparent opposition of TCG to his continuing in the post.
The HPL board also appointed Mr Debashis Shome, managing director of West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, as a director in place of Mr Gopal Krishna.
