PET bottles for beverage packing may soon find competition from clarified PP. A blow molded nucleated polypropylene (PP) container, offering cost and quality advantages, is being innovated to substitute PET. Clarified nucleated PP can be superior to PET for certain container applications because:
· It is low in cost.
· It offers good mold duplication and hot fill up to 98ºC (209ºF).
· It is able to show the true color of the beverage, enhancing product appeal.
· Offers increased production rate of bottles by more than 30%, matching PET output.
The container thus molded, reduces manufacturing costs while allowing it to increase juice content without using preservatives. The bottles do not distort under hot-fill conditions, offering more efficient cycle times and enhanced rigidity. Enables distribution of juices at ambient temperatures in regions where refrigeration is not widely available.
