Brazil's thermoset resin maker to invest in capacity additions; eyes growing wood panel market

Eyeing the rising demand for resins due to the construction boom, GPC Química - Brazilian producer of thermoset resin, formol and methanol - has decided to augment capacity at its three plants located in states of Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul and Minas Gerais. The increase in the capacities of each is unknown but the firm currently produces 250,000 tpa of formol and 350,000 tpa of resins and is eying the wood panel market which is growing at a healthy 7%. As a whole, the Brazilian resin companies are expected to invest US1 bln by 2010, the company statement addressed.
