Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. has embarked on the planned shutdown of an ethylene unit at its chemical plant in Port Arthur, Texas, according to a filing with state regulators. “Established procedures and practices will be followed to safely shut down the process equipment,” the company said in the filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Emissions associated with the shutdown began at 10:45 a.m. local time and were expected to end on June 6 at the same time, according to the filing.
