Ciba building Asia's largest antioxidant plant in Singapore

09-Mar-06
Singapore's Jurong Island is to house Asia's largest anti oxidant plant. Ciba Specialty Chemicals' is in the process of building the antioxidant plant in Singapore's petrochemical center, to be completed by 2008. The investment outlay of US$100 million is Ciba's single largest investment in the region. Over the past decade, Ciba has invested over US$382 million in Asia, recording a 50% growth in revenue since 1997. The new facility will increase the company's revenue generated from Asia, which accounted for about 30% of its total global sales last year. Producing specialty chemicals like antioxidants is currently a US$5.65 billion annual business for Ciba. With demand for plastic-related products predicted to double over the next 20 years, the industry is tipped to see exponential growth, particularly in Asia.
