Ciba's plant for Antioxidants for plastics to be located in Singapore

14-Dec-05
Ciba Specialty Chemicals new plant for antioxidants for plastics is to be located in the petrochemical complex on Jurong Island, Singapore, at an investment of US$100 million, to meet demand from the fast growing polymer industry in Asia Pacific and Middle East. Production start up is expected in early 2008. Asia continues to drive growth, particularly in mainland China and India. Sales in the NAFTA were about flat, reflecting particularly the weaker demand from the automotive industry and the negative development of the Textile industry in NAFTA, while South America showed good growth. Europe was up 75 in both Swiss francs and local currencies. This increase was driven mainly by acquisition effects, while the underlying demand levels were very mixed.
