Construction work at the Assam Gas Cracker Project at Lepetkata, 11km from here, is running behind schedule, despite speeding up activities on various fronts. Barely 27% progress has been made on the flagship project, against a target of 50%. An approximate six month delay is the schedule has compelled by external factors, ranging from inclement weather to labour unrest. The project is being implemented by the Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL), that has taken all measures to complete the project within its original schedule- April 2012. Work on the project has picked up after a prolonged monsoon period from March to October this year.
