Contract for Propane Dehydrogenation project awarded in Thailand

A consortium comprising of a Shaw Stone & Webster unit and CTCI Corporation of Taiwan, Republic of China, has been awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) services to HMC Polymers Company Limited for a propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant. The PDH plant is to be located in Map Ta Phut, Rayong, Thailand. The 300,000 tpa propylene project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2009. Shaw will manage main process unit engineering work from its Houston, Texas office with offices in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Mumbai, India, providing support. Consortium partner CTCI Corporation will perform the balance of plant engineering as well as the procurement and construction of the whole facility. HMC Polymers Company Limited is a joint venture between Basell Polyolefins and a group of leading Thai companies, that established the first polypropylene manufacturing facility in Thailand in 1987 and currently has a capacity of 450,000 tons, making it one of largest and most advanced facilities in Asia.
