Belgium-based integrated manufacturer of PVC-U window systems and profiles, Deceuninck has announced to permanently suspend extrusion activities at Little Rock, Arkansas (USA) and direct all its American operational activities at Monroe, Ohio-based facility by April, 2009. As a result, 70 employees will be laid off. The decision is part of Deceuninck's policy to continuously improve productivity in a market that continues to be severely hit by the consequences of the financial crisis and the worsening of the economic climate. The production capacity will entirely be transferred to Deceuninck's manufacturing site in Monroe, Ohio.
"The continuous problems and decreased activity in the American housing market force us to further streamline our operational activities in the United States. This consolidation will allow us to keep productivity up and meanwhile maximise and ensure in the long term Deceuninck North America's service level to its customers," comments Tom Debusschere, CEO of the Deceuninck Group. The Little Rock, Arkansas manufacturing plant became one of the Deceuninck North America production sites in 2003 together with the 2006 halted extrusion plant in Oakland, New Jersey after the acquisition of Vinyl Building Products, part of Thyssen Polymer (Germany).
