New York's contract, light sweet crude for July delivery, rose to almost US$135 a barrel, despite a call by Saudi Arabia for talks with consumer nations reiterating its readiness to meet any increase in demand to counter rising prices. On Friday, the New York contract had its largest single day price jump of US$10.75, settling at US$138.5.
