Dow, Chevron plan to licence technology in India and China

Dow Chemical Co. is exploring expansion options in the growing Asian region. Dow is in talks with petrochemical companies in buoyant markets India and China to licence technology. The Indian petrochem major Reliance Industries Ltd., currently uses Dow's technology. Others expanding in the sector include Oil and Natural Gas Corp., GAIL (India) Ltd. and Indian Oil Corp. Dow is in talks with Indian companies to set up large capacities. Houston-based Chevron Phillips Chemical Co., a joint venture of ChevronTexaco Corp. and ConocoPhillips, ia also in talks to license polyethylene technology to Indian companies.
