Dow reported an emergency shutdown of its Freeport, Texas polyethylene No. 4 unit Friday, according to a filing with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, as reported by Argus. Dow is in the process of investigating the root cause of the incident, which resulted in emissions of ethylene. It was not clear whether the unit has since been restarted. Dow has 386 mln lb/yr of low density polyethylene and 690 mln lb/yr of linear low density polyethylene/high density polyethylene production at the Freeport plant.
