Dow increases global propylene oxide and propylene glycol capacity

29-Mar-07
As a result of expansions in PO and PG production at it's Stade, Germany facility and low-capital expansions implemented at other PG plants, Dow has increased total global nameplate production capacity for propylene oxide (PO) to over 1,900,000 tpa and total global production capacity for propylene glycol (PG) to 705,000 tpa. Upon completion in 2009, expansions at Stade will make it the world's largest PG facility, with a production capacity of 270,000 tpa. Effective January 2007, Dow has increased PO production at Stade to 630,000 tpa from 590,000 tpa. The increase of PG capacity at Stade is being implemented through two projects. The first expansion phase, which was completed in 2007, increased PG capacity at the facility from 190,000 tpa to 225, 000 tpa. The second project, which is planned for completion in 2009, will add another 45,000 tpa of PG output.
