The Dow Chemical Company plans to expand manufacturing capacities for two products at its existing site in Estarreja, Portugal, as follows:
Dow Polyurethanes is to expand MDI production by 2009.
Dow Building Solutions plans to add capacity for STYROFOAM™ brand building insulation products.
Additional MDI capacity will aid in meeting strong market demand, growing at a steady pace. Demand for MDI is currently growing at 6 to 7% annually and is estimated at 8 billion pounds pa globally. The planned STYROFOAM expansion would enhance Dow's ability to meet local customer needs for residential and commercial construction insulation products.
