DuPont Tate & Lyle BioProducts (DT&L), a joint venture between global sciences company DuPont and global renewable ingredients manufacturer Tate & Lyle, recently inked a contract to provide its Susterra® propanediol, a 100% bio-based ingredient, to ITWC, Inc., a leading urethane company. In polymer applications, Susterra™ propanediol can be utilized in the manufacture of polyester-based resins and as a cross linker in urethane chemistries.
"Susterra® is a great fit for the polyurethanes industry. It offers a functional, consistent and high purity building block, all from a rapidly renewable source.", said Joe DeSalvo, marketing director, DT&L. ITWC, Inc., furthering advancements in polyurethane technology to develop and offer a polyester product based on renewably resourced ingredients from DT&L. The company's Poly SR line is a family of polyester polyols for use in applications for elastomers, coatings, and sealants that are based upon Susterra® propanediol.
