Mold-Masters, leading company in hot runner technology, announced the introduction of an electric valve gate (EVG) for the hot runner marketplace that has superior performance characteristics to pneumatic systems, at the recently held EUROMold Show. EVG systems can be used in many applications such as consumer electronics, medical, packaging, and consumer goods.
Mold-Masters new proprietary electric valve gate has a very high closing force which, in some cases, is almost two times higher than pneumatic actuators. The unique design of the actuator allows for pin movement in less than 0.1 second and overall molding cycles below 1 second. EVG is up to 90% more energy efficient than traditional actuators for valve gates and is ideally suited to cleanroom applications as it produces almost no particulate pollution. Plate costs are reduced on EVG systems because there is no requirement for gun-drilling of air or hydraulic channels, plugging of the gun-drilled lines, or need for water/hydraulic fittings. The simple touch screen Electric Valve Gate (EVG) controller now allows the molder the ability to easily sequence the valve gates or shut-off a given cavity without altering tip heats - something that is not possible on fluid based systems that are co-joined by gun-drilled lines.
