An ethylene pipeline, estimated to cost about US$186 million is to run parallel to the oil pipeline TAL and link Munchsmunster near Ingolstadt to Ludwigshafen, through Upper Bavaria (60km), Lower Bavaria (0.3km) and Swabia in Baden-Wurttemberg (42km) in Germany. This is a project of 7 chemical companies with offices in Bavaria - BP, BASF, OMV, Wacker, Vinnolit, Clariant and Borealis. Construction is estimated to start in 2007, with operations to commence at the end of the same year. The state is expected to apply for the planning permission for its division of the new ethylene pipeline in Autumn and the state of Rheinland-Pfalz is to make a decision concerning the matter in August.
