Ethylene prices in USA spike on news of outage at William’s 1.2 bln lb ethylene unit

US spot ethylene prices have risen due to an unplanned cracker outage in the US Gulf Coast as per Platts. Williams' 1.2 bln lbs ethylene unit in Geismar, Louisiana is down, prompting June ethylene to surge 3 cents in morning trading from Monday's Platts assessment. The cause of the outage, and the cracker's expected downtime have not been disclosed, The market estimates operations could be down by a week or longer.
