Formosa likely to put off restart of No.1 cracker

Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp is likely to shut down its 700,000 tpa naphtha cracker for longer than planned- possibly at least two to three days. Formosa's No. 1 cracker was shut down on Tuesday due to a compressor problem and was expected to restart by Aug. 28. A technical glitch forced Formosa to run the No.1 cracker at a lower rate, last month.
