Formosa Plastics plans petrochem expansion?

Reports indicate that Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Group plans to invest more than T$100 billion (US$3.2 billion) to expand petrochemical complex in southern Taiwan by 2010. Formosa includes flagship Formosa Plastics Corp., Formosa Petrochemical Corp. and Nan Ya Plastics Corp. The expansion plan would include construction of a 150,000 bpd oil refinery, to boost output of Formosa Petrochemical Formosa Chemicals and Fibre Corp. is to build a 600,000 tpa styrene monomer plant and a 110,000 tpa aromatic plant for the production of benzene, toluene and blended xylene. Formosa Plastics will build a 250,000 tpa butanol plant and a 230,000 tpa acrylic enamel plant.
