Formosa's ethylene plant start-up delayed

01-Aug-06
A shortage of labour has caused Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp. to delay start-up of its 1.2 million tpa ethylene plant located in the company's Mailiao petrochemical plant in southern Taiwan. Shortage of labour has slowed construction of the plant and delayed start up to Q1-2007 from the end of 2006. The plant was expected to boost the firm's ethylene capacity to 2.9 million tpa.
