Strong growth in pharmaceutical and chemicals sector and very good performance by the Plastics sector has resulted in excellent operating results for the Solvay group in H1-2006.
Revenue posted an overall increase of 17% and an individual increase as follows: Pharmaceuticals 44%, Chemicals 10% and Plastics 10%.
Revenue from the Plastics sector increased 10%. Results from Specialties (Specialty Polymers and Inergy Automotive Systems) increased compared to H1- 2005, while results from Vinyls decreased compared to the excellent levels of H1- 2005, due to globally lower spreads.
