A subsidiary of Foster Wheeler AG’s Global Engineering and Construction Group has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) contract by Dow Deutschland Anlagengesellschaft mbH for a new cogeneration facility to be installed within Dow's existing chemical complex at Stade, Germany. The new plant consists of three gas turbogenerators, heat recovery steam generators and combined steam turbogenerators, and electrical infrastructure, offices, storage and utilities. The plant, expected to start operation in early 2013, will be designed to have a capacity of 150 megawatt electric (MWe) and associated cogenerated steam.
"After Foster Wheeler's successful implementation of projects in the petrochemical field for Dow, we are pleased to award this company the Stade CoGen Project, thus extending our cooperation to the power business sector," said Bernhard Seggert, Project Director, Dow. "Foster Wheeler has the right expertise and capabilities to successfully undertake the project, thanks to its diversified experience in power generation facilities both as an operator of cogeneration plants and as a contractor."
