Global consumption of BOPP film rose by more than 8% in 2005 to 4.28 mln tons, in line with the five-year average of 8.9% estimated by PCI Films Consulting. An estimated 1.5 mln tpa of the ultra-thin biaxially oriented polypropylene film has been added to the world market since 2001. China, with a consumption of 1.3 mln tons last year, replaced Western Europe (including Turkey) as the largest consumer region.
