PTT Plc Gas Separation Plant Unit 5, estimated to entail an investment outlay of 13.908 billion baht is considered to be Thailand's largest gas separation plant. This plant is to be located next to the Gas Separation Plant Unit 1,2 and 3 in Mab Ta Phut, Rayong Province and is likely to have a processing capacity of about 530 million cubic feet per day. It is aimed to produce gas products to the volume of approximately 520,000 tons of ethane, 646,000 tons of propane and LPG and 177,000 tons of NGL per year. This combined production is estimated to create substantial revenue for the country's petrochemical chains.
Ethane from the GSP Unit 5 will serve as feedstock for Thai Olefins Public Company Limited (TOC)'s new olefins plant- Olefins Plant Unit 2, with a production capacity of 300,000 tpa of Ethylene. The output will serve as raw material for other related petrochemical chains such as Ethylene Oxide and Ethylene Glycol - for textile and plastic industries. The advantages that GSP Unit 5 will offer include:
Defray operating costs for PTT's Petrochemical Business Group
Bring about integrated value creation
Help Thailand reduce as much as 8.7 billion baht in raw material imports for intermediate and related petrochemical chains
Help boost the country's revenue by 7 billion baht pa via LPG exports
The overall value creation produced by the GSP Unit 5 should total about 10.4 billion baht, which will contribute greatly to Thailand's Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
