Repsol to overhaul aromatics complex in Argentina

04-Aug-05
Repsol, one of the largest private oil companies in the world, and the largest in Latin America in terms of assets, is all set to revamp its aromatics complex in Argentina. Repsol has selected the UOP technology for a new CCR Platforming unit to be installed at the RYPF Complejo Industrial Ensenada (CIE) in Argentina, to include a Continuous RVG Chlorsorb(TM) System. The Continuous RVG Chlorsorb System captures chloride from the vent gas and recycles the chloride back into the process, decreasing chloride consumption. Repsol and UOP have also tied up for the revamp of the existing aromatics complex at CIE to include upgrading the extraction unit to a Sulfolane(TM) unit in addition to a number of fractionation upgrades. The CCR Platforming process, a premier reforming process for the production of reformate for aromatics production with more than 185 units in operation world-wide, is expected to supply hydrogen to the refinery for the production of clean fuels and supply high octane reformate to the aromatics complex through this unit.
