In order to make its unit more efficient and produce more high-value molecules, Haldia Petrochem plans a complete shutdown at its naphtha cracker in the first half of April. The 520,000 tpa unit will undergo a two week maintenance shutdown along with some minor debottlenecking during the production halt.
This shutdown has been planned and communicated to customers almost 3-4 months ago HPL has built up stocks to facilitate supplies during the shutdown. HPL naphtha imports in April could come down as a result of the temporary production hold-up. Haldia buys 300,000 tonnes of naphtha from Kuwait Petroleum each year under a term contract.
