Ineos to shutter Grangemouth plant

12-Jun-09
Ineos has yet to arrive at a decision on the future of its G4 plastics plant located in Grangemouth. The petrochem major has refuted speculation about plans to close the plant by no later than 2011 - a move that could result in loss of over 100 jobs. Ineos embarked upon a formal consultation in September 2009 when it considered several options for the 40 year old ethylene plant. If the consultation results in a decision to shutter the plant, Ineos plans to redeploy staff at other locations. Currently, the complex employs about 1,200 workers and is the centre of the industry in Scotland.
