Iran Petrochemical Commercial Company (IPCC) that had supplied about 5.4 million tons petrochemicals worth nearly US$1.8b to 400 foreign customers last year is now working on new projects through which it plans to increase production in the country.
IPCC is reported to have sold 1.8 million tons of petrochemicals in two months of this year, worth US$600m in foreign and domestic markets - about US$450m of petrochemicals have been exported to global markets, while petrochemicals valued at US$150m have been supplied to the domestic markets. The company's products have included liquefied gas, chemical fertilizers as well as chemical and polymer products.
As per its current plans, exports of polymers for the year stand at :
1.8 million tons of methanol
400,000 tons of paraxylene
2 million tons of liquefied gas
1.2 million tons heavy naphtha
500,000 tons of various
Production is likely to hit almost 16 million tons worth about US$5b this year, when underway projects become operational.
