Kureha Corp has inaugurated and opened it's new polyglycolic acid (PGA) plant in the Kanawha Valley built at an outlay of US$150 mln. The plant is located on DuPont's property in Belle.
Also known as polyglycolide, PGA resin is a biodegradable, thermoplastic polymer used to produce specialty plastics. The plant was planned with production capacity of 4,000 tpa. Feedstock will be supplied from the adjacent DuPont plant producing glycolic acid.
