Kureha Corp unveils new polyglycolic acid plant at Belle

Kureha Corp has inaugurated and opened it's new polyglycolic acid (PGA) plant in the Kanawha Valley built at an outlay of US$150 mln. The plant is located on DuPont's property in Belle. Also known as polyglycolide, PGA resin is a biodegradable, thermoplastic polymer used to produce specialty plastics. The plant was planned with production capacity of 4,000 tpa. Feedstock will be supplied from the adjacent DuPont plant producing glycolic acid.
