Larsen & Toubro has been awarded two major contracts by Sinopec, China, at a total value of US$86 million for design, manufacture and supply of three ethylene oxide reactors, each weighing in excess of 1,000 tons. The reactors would form part of the Methyl Ethyl Glycol (MEG) unit in a petrochemical plant.
The contracts were secured against competition from Japanese and Germany firms. In the last two years, L&t hs supplied to China equipment valued over US$300 million, including the world's largest coal gasifier, and advanced acronitrile reactors.
