The Ion Exchange Resins business unit of specialty chemicals group LANXESS AG will be showcasing its premium products for biodiesel production at the 1st Biofuels Roundtable Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur on March 24 to 25. The focus here will be on the ion exchange resin Lewatit GF 202, among other products. Lewatit GF 202 is capable of producing biodiesel qualities compliant with the European standard EN 14214 without having to utilize a costly water-wash or once-use filtration aids. The product significantly simplifies production and is extremely efficient in removing impurities that damage engines such as glycerine, soap and salts. Plants utilizing Lewatit GF 202 are compact and easy to use, with unparalled cost-efficiency.
Since the resin is regenerable over an average period of five years, Lewatit GF 202 enable production of high quality biofuels at low costs while delivering ease fo use and low maintenance costs. The resin cost per liter of processed biodiesel is only about two hundredths of an Euro cent. This established technology has been deployed since 1995 in biodiesel plants with capacities of between 1,000 and 500,000 metric tons per year. Lewatit GF 202 also demonstrated its high level of performance in the Biodiesel Adventure Project in 2008 and also sued in a cross-country vehicle with its own biodiesel production unit on board that went on a 60,000-kilometer-long trip around the world.
