Linde North America has commissioned a new air separation plant in Cartersville, Georgia, some 40 miles northwest of Atlanta. Linde North America is a member of The Linde Group, a leading gases and engineering company. The plant, located in the Guyton Industrial Park on Peeple's Valley Road in Cartersville, cryogenically separates air to produce over 700 tons a day of liquid oxygen and nitrogen. From Cartersville, the gases are trucked to hospitals, food processors, metals and chemicals manufacturers in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. The plant employs over 30 people. The location enables Linde to optimize its distribution patterns by freeing up production at existing plants in Alabama, North and South Carolina in order to better serve customers.
Pat Murphy, president, Linde North America, said, "Linde is investing to ensure we can support our customers' changing and growing demands. Our Cartersville plant is our largest plant in Georgia, giving us a strong supply capability in the Southeast and along the entire East Coast. The plant also is the first of two air separation plants Linde will commission this year. These additions strengthen our entire U.S. supply and distribution network by enabling us to add new capacity in the areas where it's needed most." The air separation plant was designed and delivered by Linde Process Plants (LPP), based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. LPP is part of The Linde Group's Engineering Division, which produces complex process plants for a variety of applications, including air separation units, plants for chemical and petrochemical manufacturing and pharmaceutical and biotechnological plants.
